Our Farm
Bombazine Oyster Company is a small oyster farm on the New Meadows River in Brunswick, Maine. Originally founded in 2018 by three high school seniors, Ferda Farms was rebranded to Bombazine Oyster Company in 2025. We are committed to producing a high-quality product while fostering the next generation of ocean stewards along Maine’s coast. Our farm is nestled between Bombazine Island and Lower Coombs Island. The incoming tide brings cold, salty water from the Atlantic Ocean, and the outgoing tide brings phytoplankton-rich waters from the heads of multiple estuaries, lending our oysters their distinct flavor.
We are committed to education and innovation. Every summer, we facilitate research in partnership with students and faculty at the University of Maine and Bowdoin College. We power all of our processing equipment using solar power, and we are constantly improving our husbandry process through investment automation equipment. We participate in workforce development programs like the Maine Aquaculture Apprenticeship and Aquaculture Pioneers. By employing early career staff, we teach them how to make a living by growing seafood sustainably.
